What an amazing week we had at Winchester House School working with their Year
8s to workshop, rehearse and perform a Musical in a Week. The piece was called
The Audition and was written by Fabula Arts Director, James Gillam. The students
had given us a list of songs from musicals that they enjoyed singing and a story was
written using those songs. It was very much a bespoke piece of theatre.
The first two days were spent building an ensemble, workshopping ideas and
beginning to block out routines and scenes with James and Emily. The next two days
were focused on fitting all the ideas into one sustainable performance. And then the
final day was performance day!
We are so proud of how the Year 8 group, comprising forty children, nailed their
performance. They developed enormously through the week, learning to work
together to achieve their brilliant outcome. The musical brought them together as a
group to celebrate their time at the school, as they now head off to pastures new.
Fabula Arts are very proud to have been a part of that process. You can see some
photos from the week in the store section of our website.
