Fabula Arts is very excited, in conjunction with Laugh Out Loud Theatre, to be launching our Lost Words project for Northamptonshire primary school KS2 pupils which will take place in the Autumn Term 2019. This is an opportunity to explore The Lost Words book by Robert Macfarlane and Jackie Morris using the creative arts : art, creative writing and drama. At a time when both the natural world itself and the creative arts in education are perhaps under more threat than ever, we are excited to offer this opportunity to primary schools in Northants.
We recently went to Winchester House School, Brackley to try out some ideas with their Year 4s. In the drama sessions, we explored characteristics of the otter, the stork and the raven and how they might present themselves as personified characters in stories. In the writing workshops, we used nouns, verbs and adjectives associated with oak trees, bramble and magpies to write some cinquain poems. Pupils now will use these ideas as inspiration for stories they are writing in their English lessons.
We look forward to lots more Lost Words activities in September. Get in touch for further details : info@fabulaarts.co.uk.
